Passenger Terminal Amsterdam
Passenger Terminal Amsterdam (PTA)
The Passenger Terminal Amsterdam forms an interface between land and water. With its undulating roof and glass walls, the building is a real eye-catcher from the water and the railway. And from the terminal you have a phenomenal view of the IJ harbour and the historic city centre. The unusually designed building accommodates a large transparent space which, spread over three levels, provides room for approximately 3,000 guests. It also has an underground car park with room for 500 cars. The terminal is in a modern urban environment and is in the immediate vicinity of the old city centre. A splendid example of modern architecture, on historic land.

Underground use of space is becoming a more important aspect of spatial development in the Netherlands. COB considers it her mission to contribute, through co-operation, in a lasting and sustainable way to a responsible development, construction and management of underground spaces. COB wants to do this through preserving already developed knowledge, creating new knowledge, and in a more broad sense providing a positive development climate for innovative ways of underground use of space. Based on this mission, COB makes clear choices. COB aims at tangible, practical research on current issues with social relevance. In this way, COB wants to promote the common interest as well as its participants interests.
